Off to Summer Camp Card Poems, Verses, and Sayings

by Sally Jennings

One of the best summer delights for many children is their trip to summer camp. It may be a sports camp, a music retreat, a few days at a ranch taking trail rides, a city computer camp at a university, or some other special camp. Whether the camper stays overnight or comes home every evening, the daytime activities are sure to be a treat. Maybe there will be campfire and ghost stories, or a competition for the best science project. Share the joy of summer camping or help the novice camper feel more secure by sending an encouraging message: have fun, and we love you!

These are our free Off to Summer Camp verses, poems and sayings for you to use on cards, in letters and notes, emails, scrapbooks, or speeches - wherever you need them. Choose a verse below, personalize it, or use it as a starter prompt to write your own verse. Please respect our copyright and don't use these commercially or republish them online.

Off to summer camp?
That's so awesome!
Maybe you'll be
   barrel racing on a horse
   or playing paint ball
   or doing leatherwork
Or in the water
   with a snorkel and fins
   or on a wakeboard
   or a tube
      you'll be so cool
Better listen up at campfire time
‘cause I want to hear all
   those new ghost stories
      when you get back
         Oooh! I do!

You're off to summer camp?
Bet you've packed
   water balloons
to throw at new friends
   a whoopee cushion
for the camp counselor to sit on
   rubber worms
for the head table's sandwiches
   a joke book
to read by flashlight at lights out time
   a pack of trick cards
for the talent contest
   your appetite for hot dogs
   your new shades
   your best smile
Hope you have fun!

(from parent or older sibling)
I promise I won't write you every day
   ‘cause you'd be so embarrassed
I promise I won't text you every hour
   ‘cause I can't
I promise I won't email you
   ‘cause you won't be online
I promise I'll leave your room alone
‘cause you told me "Or Else!"
I promise to be right here
if you want to call home
Have fun! Be good! Eat lots!
Love from all of us here at home!

Yippee, it's time for camp!
No mom or dad for a whole week
   The camp counselor is
   hundreds of years younger
No little sister or brother to pester you
   Every waking minute
   and mess up your stuff
No boring same old home routine
   keeping your room clean
   washing your face
   eating your peas and carrots
Yay, you'll be so free!
Hope you have fun!
